Personal invite from Ministry of Justice for Dr. Levmore

“Shaming vs. Freedom of Speech in Jewish Law”

Dr. Rachel Levmore, the director of the IYIM Agunah & Get-Refusal Prevention Project, was personally invited to attend a lecture delivered by Chief Justice (ret) Prof. Elyakim Rubinstein, arranged by the Ministry of Justice: “Shaming vs. Freedom of Speech in Jewish Law”. The subject matter holds great relevance regarding the tool of shaming employed by the State Rabbinical Courts against get-refusers. Dr. Levmore brought up the question of communities employing halakhic shaming procedures, known as Harchakot D’Rabbeinu Tam and it was discussed with Chief Justice (ret) Prof. Rubinstein.
