Lone Olim come together after Tisha B’Av
Over 40 lone Olim joined Maamakim Olim at the home of Hannah and Yisrael Cohn to break the fast after Tisha B’Av. 40 people, singles and married, who would have otherwise eaten alone joined a community and broke the fast together. This has become a feature of the Maamakim Olim community, Each person brings one food item and together with a selection of soups provided by the hosts, the community enjoy a warm meal together at the end of each fast.
With supportive home-based programs, mentorship and a shabbat hospitality network, Maamakim Olim programs ensure that Lone Olim do not feel alone.
