The director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project was requested by the Ne’emanei Torah Va’Avodah organization to participate in a panel discussion which was presented to approximately 100 students of the women’s high-level study program at Midreshet Lindenbaum. The three speakers were: Dr. Rachel Levmore, Rabbi Shmuel Klitsner—director of one of the programs at the women’s seminary, and a rabbi as a representative of the Chief Rabbinate. The topic was: Couples marrying in private Orthodox wedding ceremonies outside of the Chief Rabbinate. As tends to happen in panel presentations, the discussion also touched upon surrounding issues and the students heard (and took to heart) why it is incumbent upon each one of them to insure that all their marrying friends sign the Agreement for Mutual Respect.
