Historic Mount Olives Mission

A historic three-day mission took place in Jerusalem on December 4-6, 2017 organized by The International Committee for the preservation of Har Zeitim. This Committee has been active for the past 6 years and is led by Brooklyn- based brothers Menachem and Abe Lubinsky and their Israeli counterparts Harvey Schwartz and Jeff Daube.
The International Committee’s mission is to maintain security and the upkeep of Israel’s national cemetery (according to many sources) which caters to over 150,000 Jewish graves dating back from the time of the prophets until present day. The cemetery is home to many great Rabanim and leaders of the Jewish Nation throughout the centuries.
This year’s mission consisted of 50 prominent figures from the United States and Europe who met with Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Rivlin, the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Chief Rabbi of The Kotel and Holy Places, various Ministers and Members of Knesset, the Mayor of Jerusalem, Malcom Hoenlein and many more.
In only a few short years since its inception, the Committee has achieved remarkable results and is now seeking to build an educational resource and visitors center on the Mount of Olives.
IYIM was duly represented by Rabbi Pesach Lerner and Judge Shlomo Mostofsky (Co-Chairmen, American Friends of IYIM) and Mr. Harvey Schwartz (Board Member, IYIM Israel) and Daniel Meyer (Exec. Director, IYIM Israel)
