The pasuk says, “Hashem spoke to Moses saying. Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: when you come to the land which I bring you, it shall be that when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall set aside a portion for Hashem” Rashi says, “the Torah commands that every batch of dough a portion be given to the cohanim.”
The cohanim received the gift of “Challa” since they give their spirit and devotion to the Torah. This provides us with an opportunity to connect to the land not just on a physical level but a spiritual level as well.
Living in the land of Israel comes with additional laws. We get so caught up with the everyday lives that we need to connect to the land that Hashem gave us. As we slowly merge back into our lives, let us take 5 minutes a day to stroll down the street or open a Sefer and do something that is meaning full for ourselves.
