Expansion of Karmiel Community
One of the many reasons the Young Israel has seen fit to expand into synagogues in the North of Israel with the Young Israel of Karmiel is because it recognized the significance of creating communities that will assist in integrating new Olim into Israeli communities- rather than some of its “mini-America” counterparts in Ramat Beit Shemesh Ranana and Jerusalem suburbs. As well it recognizes the importance of populating the North particularly where the Jewish population is only 20% of the Galilee and easing some of the housing crunch in the center.
Our synagogue partnership with Remax continues to bear fruit as new Olim are starting to buy homes in Karmiel. New Olim have started to recognize and appreciate the value and affordability of homes in Karmiel. More accessibility to the center of the town has been made possible thanks to the new train line, making the commute to Haifa and even Tel Aviv much faster and feasible for those seeking employment opportunities. The prime minister himself Bibi Netanyahu arrived with much fanfare for the inaugural ride!
The Young Israel of Karmiel also participated in the NBN go North Shabbaton-in Beit Shean meeting and networking with other families who have moved to the north. We contnue to help them achieve the dream and vision of an integrated northern community that serves as an inspiration to the entire country.
