The director of IYIM’s Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, Dr. Rachel Levmore, participated in and spoke at the meeting of the Knesset’s Constitution and Law Committee, regarding the changes in the regulations of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the opening up of applications to women for the position of Director of the Rabbinical Courts Administration. Several salient points were pointed out by Dr. Levmore, which were noted by the MK’s and taken to heart by the legal counsel of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
A full day of lectures was delivered to the female students studying in the training program of MaTan Hasharon in Raanana – by the director of IYIM’s Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, Dr. Rachel Levmore. The topics covered in depth were Jewish divorce law and coercion to divorce; laws of composing prenuptial agreements in Jewish law; an in-depth analysis of the “Agreement for Mutual Respect”; its practical application; romance vs. prenuptial agreements; comparison of the efficacy of various agreements. The reactions of the students were overwhelmingly enthusiastic. As these students are being trained to serve as religious communal leaders, this day of training in the subject of get-refusal and agunah prevention is expected to have widespread affects and is of extreme importance.
