Featured Speaker – Forum: “Prenuptial Agreements: Theory to Practice”

June 6, 2017 – The director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, Dr. Rachel Levmore, was asked to be a featured speaker in a round-table forum arranged by the Rackman Center in the Bar Ilan University Law School. The topic of the forum was “Prenuptial Agreements: Theory to Practice”. The forum was attended by leading academics, jurists and scholars in the field of agunot. In two separate presentations, the various solutions to the agunah problem promoted by this project were presented in addition to their successes and efficacy. In addition, articles published by Dr. Levmore were distributed.

Guest Lecturer –  Bar Ilan University Law School

June 4, 2017 – The director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, Dr. Rachel Levmore, served as a guest lecturer to the students of the Family Law course in Bar Ilan University Law School. In a crowded classroom, the second-year law students listened raptly as the guest lecturer presented them with an academic analysis of the complex halakhic and legal issues which form the foundation of get-refusal in Israel, followed by the presentation of an efficient solution—the Agreement for Mutual Respect. These young women and men will go on to fulfill a major role as divorce attorneys in preventing get-refusal in Israeli society.
