IYIM and YI of Karmiel Kimcha D’Pischa
Pesach is one of the most beautiful times of year in Eretz Yisrael. Families come together for the seder, stories are shared and traditions are passed down. Yet for many it is also a time of year that brings incredible stress and pressure. The expenses for the Chag can be overwhelming and the time of simcha becomes one of worry and challenge. It is for this reason that our sages millennia gave us the Mizvah of kimcha d’pischa – helping out needy families with the necessary funds to ease the burden of the holiday.
The International Young Israel Movement is proud to have participated in this Mitzvah with Young Israel of Karmiel in the distribution this year. Funds were given out to over 125 needy families from all walks of life – Ashkenazi, Sefardi, Daati, Chareidi, native Israelis, Olim and everything in between. Each family according to their needs, was given a prepaid gift card to the local supermarket and were able to purchase their basic needs without any shame and with the honor and respect that every person deserves. The expressions of gratitude that Rabbi Schwartz (Rav, Young Israel of Karmiel – IYIM Director of Northern region) received from the local families was very heartwarming, and passed on to IYIM to thank them for their generous support.
