I am sending you this letter in order to express Hakarat Hatov for the outreach activities of the Agunah & Get-Refusal Prevention Project, as well as the devotion and tireless efforts of Rachel Levmore.
About 2-3 years ago there was an event organized by the Project in my community in Chashmonaim. It was very informative, and gave me my first opportunity to become familiarized with a pre-nuptual agreement, which I had only heard of by that time…
Upon my first daughter’s recent engagement I began to think about how I would present the issue of signing an agreement to her and the Chattan. Given the fact that it is not typically signed in their circle …, I did not know how to approach it with them. I contacted Rachel Levmore and she gave me a full hour by phone, analyzing the situation and helping me formulate the strategy for my discussion with the young couple, giving me advice based on her extensive experience.
Thankfully, after my subsequent discussion with them, their review of pamphlet/brochure, and their consultation with the Chattan’s Rav …, they agreed to sign and register the agreement with the Rabbanut.
I believe that there are many other parents with children of marriageable age who would welcome the opportunity to learn more about this topic.
