Dr. Levmore publishes in Times of Israel

“International Agunah Day for Those in the Diaspora”

In marking International Agunah Day, The Times of Israel published an article by Dr. Rachel Levmore, director of the YI Agunah & Get-Refusal Prevention Project. Attracting attention with the headline “International Agunah Day for Those in the Diaspora” the article went on to explain that agunot with no legal recourse in the diaspora can now turn to the State of Israel whose Rabbinical Courts may help them gain their freedom. Israeli law recently gave legal jurisdiction to the Rabbinical Courts over get-refusers who visit Israel, even if those individuals have no legal ties to the State of Israel. In the article these agunot are directed to prepare so that the Israeli Rabbinical Courts can help them.
