Solving Get Refusal internationally

The President of the European Conference of Rabbis, Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt – who is also Chief Rabbi of Moscow—requested of Dr. Rachel Levmore, director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, to assist with the legislating of a permanent law for resolving cases of agunot who live in the Diaspora. Dr. Levmore immediately went to work and advised Rabbi Goldshmidt as to how to proceed. Following Dr. Levmore’s assistance, Rabbi Goldshmidt submitted an official letter to the new Minister of Religious Affairs. Within a few days the ministry acted upon the request and published a memorandum notifying the public of the intent to legislate the permanent law for resolving cases of agunot who live in the Diaspora. The quick action on the part of the Ministry of Religious affairs indicates a very positive approach to helping resolve the agunah problem.
