US Agunot have Reason to Celebrate
In marking International Agunah Day which falls on Ta’anit Esther, the widely-read US Jewish weekly, the Jewish Press published an article of great importance authored by Dr. Rachel Levmore—director of the IYIM Agunah & Get-Refusal Prevention Project. Dr. Levmore explains in detail how agunot in the Diaspora can take advantage of a new law in Israel which has succeeded in freeing agunot who reside outside of the State of Israel. This information is crucial for those agunot who, until this point in time, had absolutely connection to, nor legal standing in, Israel and thus did not fall under its legal jurisdiction.
