Educational virtual event was a hit!

A major educational event in Hebrew was held by the IYIM Agunah & Get-Refusal Prevention Project, in cooperation with MATAN HaSharon, through Zoom. With the title “You are my Freedom: The Issue of Get-Refusal and a Preventative Solution” the event was attended by hundreds of participants. It was promoted throughout social media as well as with advertisement in the Makor Rishon newspaper weekend print edition. The evening opened with a presentation by one of Israel’s most famous agunot. The audience was spellbound. She concluded with a powerful endorsement of the Agreement for Mutual Respect – הסכם לכבוד הדדי, as she said that is what gave her peace of mind and engendered trust in her second marriage. The following speakers were from the IYIM project—the director, Rabbinical Court Advocate Dr. Rachel Levmore and her colleague Rabbi Dr. David Ben Zazon. They presented the Agreement for Mutual Respect and the approaches of presentation to couples at the height of romance. The head of Raanana’s Religious Council, Rabbi Aryeh Friedman, opened the evening and responded at its conclusion that following these presentations he will present material and make the Agreement for Mutual Respect available to the couples registering for marriage in the Religious Council. This is a major breakthrough within the rabbinic establishment. The recording of the event appears on the facebook pages of Raanana’s Religious Council, MATAN HaSharon and IYIM.
