Breaking Barriers of Get Refusal
In an extraordinarily difficult case of get-refusal in which the agunah, residing in an ultra-Orthodox community in Israel, had turned to Dr. Rachel Levmore, the director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, for ongoing lengthy consultations and advice – a get was successfully delivered from the get-refusing husband who lives in an ultra-Orthodox community in the US. In appreciation of the extreme difficulty of this case to actually convince the husband to give a get, the woman was greeted by jubilant cries of “Mazal Tov!” which burst forth from the presiding Rabbinical Court Judges, upon her entering the courtroom to receive the get.
