Permanent Law assisting Agunot legislated by Dr. Levmore
After The President of the European Conference of Rabbis, Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt – who is also Chief Rabbi of Moscow—requested of Dr. Rachel Levmore, director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, to assist with the legislating of a permanent law for resolving cases of agunot who live in the Diaspora. Dr. Levmore advised Rabbi Goldshmidt as to how to proceed and send a letter to the new Minister of Religious services. Within a few weeks Minister Matan Kahana submitted the law for the legislative process in the Knesset in keeping with Rabbi Goldshmidt’s request – as per Dr. Levmore’s instructions!
