As Rosh Hashana approaches, we reflect on our achievements of this past year, and are delighted of our new partnership with the Kiach school for the Deaf.
Rav Chanoch Yeres, Director of the IYIM Judaic Heritage Program for the Deaf has forged a strong partnership with the staff and students of this unique school. Every Friday without fail, Rav Yeres leads a Kabbalat Shabbat program for the students which is very informative and hands on, teaching them about the shabbat traditions As a result of these sessions seven of the students were able to celebrate their bar/bat mitzvot as participants in the annual IYIM Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration for the Deaf. This coming year, Rav Yeres hopes to further develop and expand this important program with Kiach and strengthen their cooperation for many more years to come benefitting more Deaf children every year.
