Dr. Rachel Levmore lectures at Hebrew University

“The Agreement for Mutual Respect— an Autonomous Preventative Solution to Get-Refusal”

Dr. Rachel Levmore, director of the YI Agunah & Get-Refusal Project, delivered an in-depth lecture to the academics participating in the “Beit Midrash Chevrutah” of Hebrew University’s Mount Scopus program. Speaking on “The Agreement for Mutual Respect—an Autonomous Preventative Solution to Get-Refusal”, Dr. Levmore summarized the factors bringing about get-refusal, explained the mechanisms of The Agreement for Mutual Respect and demonstrated how the agreement neutralizes those very factors as well as grants the couple utmost autonomy within the bounds of Jewish law. When the lecture ended (exactly as scheduled!) none of the participants moved! All remained to continue the discussion. As academics these participants will have a ripple effect in all sectors of Jewish society in Israel.
