IYIM’s Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project sponsored a weekend Scholar-in Residence at the Central Rimon Synagogue of Efrat. Rabbi Prof. Michael Broyde, author of the “Tripartite Agreement” – Heskem Hachut Hameshulash – spoke to the greater community. Friday night Rabbi Broyde delivered a lecture in English to a full house, on the topic of “Contending with Catastrophe”: Resolving the cases of agunot from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11th. The keynote lecture was delivered on Saturday night in Hebrew to attendees from all over the city, on הסכם החוט המשולש: מניעת עגינות בהיעלמות האיש. Throughout the Shabbat Rabbi Broyde was present at various venues—synagogues and homes, in order to increase the exposure of the laypeople to the groundbreaking preventative solution to the classic aguna – The Tripartite Agreement-Heskem HaChut HaMeshulash.
